DaYu old village has been the food distributing centre on the Li River since the Tang Dynasty. There are still many preserved ancient buildings with North Guilin villagers on the old streets. You can see the detail in the wood carvings on the buildings. Even the cobblestones on the road can tell you the story of the history they've been through. There are still many old famous stores open to the public, such as a distillery, armory, Chinese medicine clinic, wooden furniture shops and so on. A couple old stone arch bridges built hundreds of years ago are still in use. The most popular dish in the area is a marinated bamboo stir fry made with spicy fish from the Li River. Yum!
