Did you know that over 30% of the world’s rice comes from China? Rice is the most important part of our economy.
Today, we explored the Longsheng Rice Terraces, a field that was built over 650 years ago. The terraces get their name from the word Longji, meaning dragon’s backbone. From the mountain top, when you look down at the view of the terraces, they really do look like dragon scales. Next month, farmers will flood the paddies with water and add young plants to the terraces.
We hiked through these impressive terraces, observed local farmers working hard in the fields and even snapped some selfies with local villagers.
